Holiday Workshops

Since October 2000, at Easter, Summer and October school holidays we have held a popular series of workshops in the gallery, for children and young people aged from 5 to 16 years.

Participants have a look at and discuss their reactions to the work in the current exhibition, then make their own artworks using some of the materials and techniques, used by the exhibiting artist/s. This can lead to a wide range of activity from edible sweetie collages inspired by Neal Macdonald’s ‘Hip to be Square’ exhibition, to still life acrylic paintings of marine wildlife influenced by ‘The Spirit of Harris’ commission by Willie Fulton.

Previous workshops were led by An Lanntair staff Elsie Mitchell and Patsy Maclean and by local artists Kate Kirby, Christine Campbell and Moira MacAulay. Each workshop session normally lasts for 2 hours. Between 2 to 10 sessions are held at each holiday break. Participants are divided into groups according to age. For details of forthcoming workshops contact us and don't forget to keep an eye on our news page.
