An Lanntair - Arts Education and Outreach Policy
Aims
- To liase with the education sector, galleries and other partners in the Western Isles to plan and manage an Education and Outreach programme, for Lewis and Harris.
- To work towards an equitable spread of outreach activity across Lewis and Harris.
- To utilise the unique context for learning and teaching provided by the programme of exhibitions and performances at An Lanntair.
- To identify the existing barriers towards enjoyment and experience of the arts and create ways to overcome them.
- To seek to increase the understanding and appreciation of works of art, and to develop a life-long audience for art, with the ability to critically engage with visual art works.
- To give high priority to supporting and supplementing the development work in the school curriculum from Pre-school, through to Secondary.
- To extend the use of the arts within further education.
- To promote social inclusion within the Education and Outreach Programme, encouraging the participation of groups in society that are subject to discrimination or marginalisation.
- To promote contemporary Gaelic Culture within the Education and Outreach Programme.
- To promote artistic excellence, high standards and good practice throughout all aspects of the Education and Outreach Programme.
- To establish a process of monitoring and evaluation of the Education and Outreach Programme, which feeds into ongoing plans.
