An Lanntair took part in a wider project co-ordinated by The Hebridean Music Workshop, in which Marc Yeats a classical composer and painter worked with older people on the islands of Lewis, Orkney, Skye, Mull and Shetland. In April 2002 a group of 7 adults spent a day at An Lanntair with Marc, discussing colour theory and making abstract water-colour paintings. In October 2002 they spent a second day with Marc and were encouraged to compose music by interpreting the tones and colours of their previous water-colours as sounds performed for them by professional musicians. The workshop led on to an evening performance of these new pieces together with classical compositions by Marc.
