Taisbeanadh Exhibition Stuth Solais Light Matters 8 an Dùbhlachd December - 6 an Gearran February 2010 Anns a' Phrìomh Ghailearaidh In the Main Gallery
An Lanntair's gallery is set to be all aglow this Christmas with our bright new exhibition 'Stuth Solais Light Matters'! Created by participants in the Grianan Digital Arts Project under the guidance of digital artist Joe Mahony, the exhibition uses the idea of light as a base and focuses on how people use light using cameras, projectors and lenses.
The exhibition will include a wide variety of creations - light sculptures, projections, animations, black-light and UV paintings and much more! The centrepiece will be an enormous Guinness World Record breaking sculpture consisting of seven large panels made from 618,135 Hama beads, which depicts local places and people. This is the fourth in a series of exhibitions that come from the Grianan Digital Arts Project which was initiated by an Lanntair and involves artist Joe Mahony working with a number of local organisations, including - The Grianan Day Centre, Catch-23, Ardseileach, Lews Castle College, Lifestyle, APU (Acute Psychiatric Unit) and others. The exhibition will open on Tuesday the 8th December at 6pm. If you are coming into town to see the Christmas lights being switched on at 7pm, why not pop along to our gallery beforehand and take a look at the exciting creations these groups have made!
