June Foyer Exhibition - Tapestry Artist Sallie Tyszko Sallie has lived all over the Highlands, Cape Wrath, Ross-Shire and now in Great Bernera. She uses net-mending needles, cotton and transparent fishing line for warp and a huge variety of other materials for weft; jute, lace, wools, chiffon, sequins, satin... and the list goes on!
Her work is mounted on driftwood and each one is totally unique. The wools, materials and mohair are individully dyed for each tapestry. The sheeps' wool and pure mohair from Ludi and Mo the Angora goats is clipped then handspun by Sallie and expert hand-spinner Sheila Bates. If you're interested in tapestry why not also check out the Cuibhrig exhibition on the upper walkway! |
