The Fragility of Flight By Keith McIntyre & Karen Wimhurst, in the main gallery, 27 an Lùnastal August – 20 an t-Sultain September 2008 Fragility of Flight is an anthropomorphic tragi-comedy in visual art, music, film and origami. Birds and humankind merge to face survival in the wake of profound changes to the natural world. Artists Keith McIntyre and composer Karen Wimhurst were commissioned by Taigh Chearsabhagh to create a gallery installation combining Keith's large ink drawings and performance with Karen's improvised woodwind and birdsong composition. |

7 an t-Iuchar July - 16 an Lùnastal August 2008 MAMBA by textile artist and designer Alice Starmore is an acronym for “Miles and Miles of Beauty Astounding”. It is an unapologetic celebration of the boundless open moor of North Lewis and what it encloses, contains and represents. Primarily a blend of photographic and mixed-media images the show is divided into 5 sections: 1 – Dùiltean Elements; 2 – Tòiseachadh Beginning; 3 – Ionmhasan Treasures; 4 – Fionnsgeulan Legends and 5 – Na h-Àirighean The Sheilings. It also features a number of tapestries based on moorland colours and themes. |

Katie Morag is an exhibition of illustrations by Mairi Hedderwick for her popular series of children's books dating from 1984 to 2005. The exhibition contains original jacket covers, storyboard examples of how illustration and text were put together, Katie Morag's family tree, character profiles for the TV drama series and a map of the Isle of Struay among other original work. |
