In 2005, Eòghann MacColl became the 17^th recipient of the the Alasdair Salveson Art scholarship. He travelled round the North Atlantic rim and visited Shetland, the Faroes, Iceland, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and St Pierre et Michelon.

Our Journey, Our Voices Our Future THE CHILDREN’S PARLIAMENT & An Dealbh Mor The Big Picture

This features a dynamic, colourful 24 foot mural and 20 papier-mache models by children from Uist and Barra.

A one-day extravaganza of children’s animation featuring an exhibition in the gallery and animations in the auditorium.  The projects aims are to promote the Gaelic oral tradition, support minority cultures, collect new material for the oral tradition and advance digitisation of oral tradition archives.

Over the past year Joe Mahoney has been working for An Lanntair as a digital artist-in-residence at the Grianan day-care centre in Stornoway. The post has been funded under the Scottish Arts Council's Partners Scheme.

Throughout January you can see the evocative photographs by locally based photographer Kim Park in An Lanntair's café bar. Kim gives us some background on her work:

Calum Angus Mackay & Sandra Kennedy

Two acclaimed Island artists, Calum Angus Mackay and Sandra Kennedy, are on display at An Lanntair throughout February.   The exhibition includes large canvases, photographs, and a short film by Calum Angus on 'Steallag', simply titled 'An Gobha' - The Blacksmith. 

This is Mairi’s first solo exhibition with An Lanntair. Mairi was born in Glasgow of Lewis parents and comes back to Lewis year after year to capture images of the islands. Through December and into January you can see a selection of Mairi’s beautiful and emotive work in the foyer at An Lanntair. 

An exhibition of the skilful, detailed and colourful work of Cuibhrigean Eilean Leodhais - The Lewis Quilt Group - is taking place in An Lanntair's main gallery from the 9^th December 2006.

From Saturday the 2nd of September there is a new exhibition which will appeal to adults and children alike.   Katie Morag is an exhibition of illustrations by Mairi Hedderwick for her popular series of children's books dating from 1984 to 2005.  The exhibition contains original jacket covers, storyboard examples of how illustration and text were put together, Katie Morag's family tree, character profiles for the TV drama series and a map of the Isle of Struay among other original work.

This exhibition is compiled of over 100 photographs that document characters and characteristics of the Islands that are simultaneously local and universal, historic and timeless. The fascinating photographs are Gus Wylie’s view of the changing way of life in the Hebrides.
